This story is about fate. Have you ever had a passion that started at a young age and grew into a lifelong journey? For me, that passion was textile design, beginning when I was just 10 years old. I remember glancing over my shoulder as I scribbled super secret recipes for very special patterns. Who would’ve thought that those drawings were a glimpse into my future?
Art was always my favourite subject and it was pretty clear to me I wanted to pursue a career in the arts. Little did I know that there was a discipline called textile design in London! Suddenly, those secret print recipes I created as a 10 year-old made much more sense.
I moved to the UK to study textile design and fashion, specialising in print design, and earned a master’s degree from the Royal College of Art in London. Those years were transformative, shaping me into the artist and designer I am today. I was encouraged to deeply explore my artistic philosophy and creative process, learning the importance of creating not just aesthetically pleasing designs, but also meaningful and profound stories.
My work is driven by a desire to explore identity, unity, empowering stories, and diverse cultures, while expressing my own life journey. Each collection is a reflection of my inner growth. I love challenging myself technically, creating complex patterns using both traditional and modern techniques, grounded in my hand drawings and paintings.
But here’s where my calling really comes from — it makes perfect sense to me now.
While my strength and passion lie in textile design, fashion became a natural medium for applying my artistic vision. I believe this fashion influence comes from my father. He had a keen sense of style and knew how to piece together tasteful looks with different colours, prints, and shapes (would you guess that he was a Libra?). His love for quality, timeless pieces, and confident dressing deeply impacted me. His influence lives on in every pattern and every carefully selected colour and shape. This is how I know I was destined to do this.
Every series and print I create comes from the heart. I aim to step out of my comfort zone and stay true to myself. For me, art should tell a story, connect with the soul, and bring joy and inspiration. My life learnings guide every brushstroke, every single decision that drives the series to completion, to the end of a chapter.
Thank you for following my journey and for your support.
I yearn to start a new chapter with you in my next story.
