Mother of Nepal is a tribute to Anuradha Koirala—the tireless founder of Maiti Nepal. Once an English teacher with a calling far greater than the classroom, she set out in 1993 to rescue vulnerable women and girls from the darkness of trafficking and abuse. With limited resources but boundless compassion, Anuradha began helping mistreated women in Kathmandu find shelter, dignity, and a way forward. Today, her legacy shines through as over 30,000 lives have been transformed and more than 1,200 traffickers held accountable.

Her work is driven by a simple, powerful belief: every girl is a daughter, deserving of love, care, and protection. As she once urged, “Just imagine what would happen if your daughter was standing there. What would you do? Join hands, feel their sorrow, and find the strength to protect them.”

In her own words, Anuradha’s happiest day will be when Maiti Nepal is no longer needed—a day when the scourge of human trafficking has been wiped away by our shared dream of a compassionate world. Let her unwavering resolve inspire us to join in this vital mission.
