Born in a humble village and raised with a deep respect for education and faith, Immaculée endured 91 harrowing days hidden away in a tiny space, clinging to hope amid unimaginable horror. Yet, in the midst of darkness, she chose forgiveness over vengeance, transforming her pain into a powerful beacon of resilience and peace. Today, she stands as a true warrior, a living testament to the strength of the human spirit.
Drawing from her story, I found inspiration in rich Rwandese textile patterns and vibrant fabrics from London’s Goldhawk Road. The patterned wings in this piece, sturdy yet graceful, symbolize the renewal that comes from forgiveness — new wings that rise above the scars of the past to spread hope and light.
I invite you to reflect on this journey of transformation and consider how, even when our wings feel clipped, we can find the courage to soar again.
